EMU set Mid-American Conference history Saturday night, which was not good news for the opposing coach.

EMU Became The First MAC School To Defeat A Pac-12 Opponent

The Eagles stunned the Sun Devils on the road in Tempe, AZ Saturday, becoming the first state school from Michigan to win against the Pac-12.

The upset appeared to be the beginning of the end for Herm Edwards, the head coach at Arizona State. Sources say he was fired immediately following the loss, and amid an NCAA investigation into the program.

But that takes nothing away from a great performance by the Eagles, who just last week were rated among the worst teams in NCAA's Bowl Division by CBS Sports.

After the game, Eastern's head coach, Chris Creighton, took a shot at those who doubted his team, and a shot at the big money Power Five schools like ASU, who use big time donors to the NIL to pay their players.

FYI -- EMU also took home $1.5 million in revenue from ASU and the Pac-12 from the gate receipts.

EMU's Evans And Gomez Win Player of the Week Honors

Eastern running back Samson Evans was named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Week for his 258 yard rushing effort in the Eagle victory. The Crystal Lake, IL native put up the best single game rushing effort in the NCAA so far this season.

The Good News At EMU Was Later Eclipsed By Really Bad News

The win was welcome news in a rough weekend for the Ypsilanti school, whose top rated basketball recruit, Emoni Bates, was arrested on a gun charge late Sunday, putting a pall on the basketball program just hours after arguably the biggest win for the school in football history.
