Sad day in Eastown today as legendary Chef and grandmother Marie Catrib has passed away at the age of 65. The restaurant that bares her name was business as usual today after the news of her death spread through town.

Fox 17 had more a story and tribute to Marie on the 10 o clock news.

"Marie Catrib, a staple of the Grand Rapids food scene, passed away Wednesday from ovarian cancer. A native of Lebanon, the 65-year-old lived in Flint, the Upper Peninsula and North Carolina while learning her craft as a pastry chef.
She and her business were closely associated with the local food movement and sustainability. Family members say that she was such a private person that there will be no funeral or wake."
