Ex-Lions Wide Receiver Lands ‘CBS This Morning’ Job

Nate Burleson, who played wide receiver for the Detroit Lions from 2010 to 2014, was a surprise choice to take over the co-hosting position on the 'CBS This Morning'.

Burleson was popular during his four year stint with the Lions, mainly because he was willing to talk to the media. Well, now he's parlayed those skills into a pretty damn good job.

Taking their lead from ABC, where former NFL great Michael Strahan hosts "Good Morning America", CBS announced that Burleson will be their new co-host, joining Gayle King and Tony Dokoupil.

Burleson had been working on the NFL Network on Good Morning Football . He also was a contributing reporter on CBS' The NFL Today pre-game show, and a New York correspondent for the entertainment news program Extra.

Burleson's new job will begin in September.

Nate is also one of the many ex-footballers who benefitted from the NFL's Broadcast Bootcamp, which is offered to players each year to teach them not only how to deal with the media, but begin training them for media careers.

Burleson played 11 seasons in the NFL, the last four with Detroit. He was on the 2011 team, which then coach Jim Schwartz led into the NFL playoffs as a wild card, losing to New Orleans 45-26.
