If someone asked you who the most famous Canadian is, you might shout "Justin Bieber" automatically, involuntarily and instantly.

Well, the researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a.k.a. MIT, employed scientific means in their research to find out exactly who is the most famous citizen from our neighbor to the north and guess what? It's not Da Biebs, but it is a pop star.

According to the study, which quantifies fame via history and collection of data through Wikipedia entries in multiple languaes through an interactive website dubbed "Pantheon," it's ... drum roll, please ... Avril Lavigne.

The singer was followed on the list by actor and funnyman Jim Carrey. Also top 10 was Bryan Adams, who's appearing at DeVos Performance Hall in Grand Rapids at 8 p.m. EST Sunday.

The Biebs made it into the No. 3 slot. That's a paltry position for him, since he is used to being No. 1 all the time!
