Popular streaming service Hulu FINALLY decides to go ad free. But it's going to cost you.

When I was a kid, the highlight of my week was the Friday night trip to Blockbuster Video to rent a a movie or Nintendo game. That joy of walking down the isles looking for a new movie to watch. Stopping to read the back of the vcr box and trying to remember if I saw Ernest Goes to Jail before or not. (True story: Ernest P. Worrell was my childhood hero.)

I'm bummed that my children will never have the same tactile experience of picking out a movie. They will have something so much better - movies and tv shows streamed straight to the tv! You don't even have to get off the couch!

I have to be honest, I don't think I could do without streaming TV / movies! I have both an Amazon Prime and Netflix account. I gave Hulu a shot too. But I just didn't see the point of paying for a streaming service to only have to still sit through commercials. It just wasn't worth it.

I do see the irony with my problem paying for content with commercials. As I was recently paying $200 a month for a cable subscription. Thank goodness for DVR! But that is a topic for another day.

Hulu has joined ranks with Amazon Prime and Netflix to offer content with no commercials. The cost $4 extra a month.

So, $4 for no commercials plus $8 for the subscription .... Yeah. I'm okay with that. Maybe its time I give Hulu another look.
