Five Ways You Can Celebrate Earth Day
Today is Earth Day and it's a day we can try to find some ways and find ways to improve the world around us.
Going green can be difficult, but there are little things that you can do to help. Below are five ways that you can be a little greener.
According to the EPA, “Leaving your car at home twice a week can cut greenhouse gas emissions by 1,600 pounds per year.” Try walking to the store or the office instead of taking your car.
Don’t fill up during the hottest part of the day, when you are more likely to spill and have fuel evaporate into the atmosphere. Also, never top off your tank, that lets extra fuel drip onto the ground.
Don’t pre-wash dishes, time yourself in the shower, and make sure all your faucets are completely off once you are done using them.
It's the perfect time to think "green!" Support local, renewable energy and enroll in Green Generation! The power that drives the Green Generation program is renewable energy. This energy is produced right here in Michigan using renewable resources, including wind power and landfill gas.
Take your old, broken computer or cell phone and bring it to your local electronics recycling center. Click here to find out more about e-cycling.
