Floyd Mayweather, Jr., Meets Manny Pacquio; Makes Boxing Folks Wonder If Bout Is Imminent
The boxing world has been buzzing about talks to put Grand Rapids native WBC welterweight boxing champion Floyd Mayweather, Jr., in the ring with WBA champ Manny Pacquiao.
On Tuesday night, it appears to have gotten a step closer to happening.
The talks to have the two get in the ring have gone on forever, but it got interesting when Floyd showed up at a Miami Heat NBA game also attended by Pacquaio.
They shook hands and had a quick discussion, which has boxing fans more hopeful than ever that a
Twitter burnt up with what went down and whether it signifies
any big thaw in the negotiations to bring the fight to fruition remains to be seen.
Associated Press Sports Writer Tim Reynolds, who witnessed the meeting, claimed contact info was exchanged.
Miami Herald beat writer Joe Goodman was there for the exchange as well, and he was also confident the meeting would yield results.
But he also got shoved trying to capture the moment.
Pacquaio-Mayweather fight, but any conjecture at this point would be purely speculative, as the boxing world has a way of self-destructing on good ideas.
