The Vegas Golden Knights have been the story of the season in the NHL, making the Stanley Cup Finals in their first year of existence. And it was a familiar face notching the game winning goal for the Knights in game one.

Tomas Nosek, a left wing obtained by the Knights in the expansion draft from the Detroit Red Wings, scored two goals to lead Vegas past the Washington Capitals, 6-4.

Nosek spent the better part of the last two seasons playing for the Griffins, and he seems to turn it on at playoff time, as he was the leading scorer for the Grffs in their run to the Calder Cup title last season.

Nosek, who is known mainly for being very quiet in the Knights' locker room, became the most unlikely of heroes in a season that has been full of "unlikely" for the Knights.
