Matthew Judon spent so much time in the Detroit Lions backfield Sunday, Jared Goff is probably having nightmares about him.

Matt Judon Was A One Man Wrecking Crew As The Patriots Blitzed The Lions

Judon grew up not far from where the Lions play in Detroit. The West Bloomfield High School grad wreaked havoc upon his hometown team Sunday, leading the New England Patriots to a 29-0 shutout of the hapless Lions.

In that game Judon set a Patriots team record, becoming the first player for the Pats to record sacks in the first five games of the season. Judon had two sacks of Lions QB Jared Goff and stripped Goff of the ball, causing a fumble that was scooped up for a touchdown by teammate Kyle Duggar.

The Former Grand Valley Standout Was Named AFC Defensive Player Of The Week

For his efforts, Judon was named the AFC defensive player of the week. Judon is off to a scorching start this season with six sacks in his first five games, tied for the NFL lead.

In addition to the sacks and the forced fumble, Judon had four quarterback hits and three additional tackles.

Judon played his college ball at Grand Valley State in Allendale where he set the record in Division II for quarterback sacks in 2015 with 20. He won Division II All American honors and was arguably the best Division II player in the country that season.

He was drafted in the fifth round by the Baltimore Ravens in 2016 and played five season in Charm City before signing with New England last season, where he was named to the AFC Pro Bowl team.
