The newest brew to the Founders Brewing Co. lineup since 2012 will be released in bottles and on tap starting this October!

Cooler weather is here which means the it's the beginning of "Stout Season" in the beer world!

In layman's terms it just means it's time to start drinking darker, heavier beers.

Personally, I prefer IPAs to anything too dark, but one of my favorite trends on the beer scene right now are Black IPAs- a happy medium between IPAs and those darker beers.

Now Founders has taken it one step further and "imperialized" a Black IPA, which basically means it has more of everything- more hops, more bitters, and most importantly, more alcohol!

Says Founders Head Brewer Jeremy Kosmicki:

Black IPAs are becoming more common, but Imperial Black IPAs aren’t, and imperializing things is what we do!"

So what can you expect from Dark Penance?

A lot of bitterness!

Like, 100 IBUs (International Bittering Units) worth- which is about as high as the IBU scale goes!

Dark Penance is also brewed with Chinook and Centennial hops, which will give it a citrusy and piney taste to balance out the bitterness.

With an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 8.9% Dark Penance will get the job done! Therefore, it will only be available in 4-packs in October and December for $11.99 per pack, available wherever Founders is sold.
