Nowadays when a big chain like Krispy Kreme gives away something free, it usually means it's some national day or so half holiday.

For instance, there were free doughnuts on Halloween. What says ghosts and goblins more than free fried sugar glazed dough?

Krispy Kreme is celebrating today! The 1,000th Krispy Kreme store is opening in Kansas City, and the Winston-Salem, N.C., company is planning a big giveaway!

Krispy Kreme shares the details:

The brand will commemorate the occasion by giving away one free Original Glazed doughnut to the first 1,000 guests at each of its participating 1,000 Krispy Kreme locations around the world No purchase necessary."
