If you live, work, or have family in Grand Rapids it's important to know what's going on in the city and what's ahead for residents.

Mayor Rosalynn Bliss will be delivering her State of the City speech on Tuesday, February 16 to reflect on the last year and what the future holds for Grand Rapids. According to the Facebook event page, the speech will begin at noon (12 p.m.) and can be streamed on Facebook Live or on YouTube.

No word yet on what will be covered during the speech, but according to an article from MLive, during last year's 45-minute speech, Mayor Bliss talked about homelessness, local businesses, supporting neighborhoods and affordable housing, lead poisoning, and marijuana. 2020's speech was given before the pandemic so there's a good chance that COVID-19, and getting people vaccinated, will take up a good portion of Tuesday's speech.

Mayor Bliss will be speaking from The Listening Room at Studio Park in Downtown G.R. and she will be joined by Kent County Chair Mandy Bolter who will deliver the opening comments, and City Manager Mark Washington will have the closing statements.

In 2016, Mayor Bliss was elected as Grand Rapids' first woman mayor and is currently serving her final four-year term.
