If gasoline wasn't already expensive enough...Michigan has a new increase on average of 7 cents per gallon.

According to WOOD TV, AAA Michigan said on Sunday that the average price for regular unleaded gasoline was around $2.93 per gallon. In case you were keeping score, that was about 52 cents more per gallon than this time last year.

The Traverse City area has reported Michigan's lowest average price which was around $2.85. Ann Arbor coming in at the highest at $2.97.

The Motor City averaged around $2.94 which was up around 6 cents per gallon.

Due to conflicts globally, AAA said gasoline inventories in the Great Lakes region as well as other parts of the central United States have dropped continuously over the past eight weeks. An increase in demand across the country has also contributed to an increase in prices at the pump.

No word on how this will affect summer activities such as boating and jet skiing where gas is even typically higher at stations near or on lakes and rivers.

The data collected by AAA Michigan is based upon surveys taken from around 2,800 gas stations across the state.
