The coronavirus pandemic has shuttered the doors on yet another business as Godiva Chocolates announced that they'd be closing all 128 of their North American locations.  Among those 128 locations, 3 are in Michigan located in Ann Arbor, Novi, and Troy.

The Belgian company was founded in 1926 and had over 450 store locations worldwide prior to their announcement that they are closing all of their North American locations.

The announcement came in response to reduced demand for in-person shopping during the pandemic.  The company says that the locations will all be closed by the end of March, so expect some sales in the meantime.  Godiva Chocolates will still be available at other retailers as well as sold online.  You can see their full catalog at Godiva.com.

According to an article by Business Insider the CEO of Godiva Chocolates said, "Of course, this decision was difficult because of the care we have for our dedicated and hard-working chocolatiers who will be impacted... We have always been focused on what our consumers need and how they want to experience our brand, which is why we have made this decision."

Godiva Chocolate still plans to keep all of their stores open outside of North America.
