Government Shutdown Hits Home
As the government shutdown stalemate continues in Washington, D.C., we're taking a local hit in Grand Rapids. The Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum is closed.
Our news partner, WZZM reports that operators of the Ford Presidential Foundation are keeping in touch by working in offices away from the museum.
If you go to museum's website an alert has been issued that reads, "Due to the shutdown of the Federal Government, National Archives facilities are closed, websites and social media are not being updated or monitored, and activities are canceled, with some exceptions. Check Archives.gov for details."
The temporary Betty Ford exhibit at the museum was originally scheduled to end this week. It featured items about the late first lady's life, marking what would have been her 100th birthday.
Foundation leaders also plan to keep the Breton Village Holiday train on display at the museum a few extra days after the shutdown.
