GR Homeless Shelter For Young Adults Now Open

A brand new homeless shelter created for young adults has now opened in Grand Rapids.

According to WOOD, a faith-based nonprofit organization by the name of Covenant House has opened a shelter for young adults who are homeless or have been trafficked.  Covenant House is part of a larger organization that helps the homeless youth in the United States, Canada and Latin America.

Covenant House is a 17,000 square foot building that has 28 private bedrooms and is designed to help people ages 18-24. Other areas of the building include a computer area, cafe, laundry facility and lounge.

The home is well lit with large amounts of light to keep transparency for its tenants.

Covenant House also provides education, transportation, health care, jobs and safe housing for those in need.

Covenant House will have people moving in the last week of November from a wait list of more than 50 who applied to live at the house.
