The world is collectively mourning the death of musical icon Prince, and Grand Rapids honored the man in purple and suede by turning one of it's mostly recognizable monuments blue.

"The Blue Bridge" which stretches across the Grand River in downtown Grand Rapids was lit up purple Thursday night.

WZZM-13's Dan Harland snapped this photo of the bridge lit up in purple and surrounded by fog. Harland posted the photo to Facebook saying,

Downtown ‪#‎GrandRapids‬ at 3 AM. Dense fog can't dim the city's tribute to‪#‎Prince‬. The Blue Bridge is purple tonight. ‪#‎RIPPrince‬.

Prince passed away Thursday afternoon at the age of 57.
