The oldest farmers market in West Michigan is celebrating a big birthday this year! Grand Rapids' Fulton Street Farmers Market will open for its 100th season Saturday, May 7th, 2022.

If you've never been to the Fulton Street Farmer's Market, you're missing out! I've been to their different artisan and makers markets, but I want to make it more of a regular thing this summer to hit up the market for fresh fruits, veggies, meats, breads, and other products that are made and grown right in here in West Michigan.

Fulton Street Farmers Market Turns 100

To kick off its centennial year, the Fulton Street Farmers Market is celebrating with a Carnival Themed Opening Day May 7th. The day will begin with a ribbon cutting at 10a.m. with Mayor Rosalyn Bliss and other Grand Rapids dignitaries.

According to the City of Grand Rapids,

This years' opening day will celebrate the legacy of the market its farm vendors, and the community.

Guests can enjoy games, cotton candy, popcorn and food trucks.

When is the Fulton Street Fulton Farmers Market Open?

While there are events throughout the year at the Fulton Street Farmers Market, the main season will run from May 7 through October 29, 2022. The market is open Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays 8a.m. to 2p.m.

Where is the Fulton Street Farmers Market?

As you may have guessed, on Fulton Street! The Fulton Street Farmers Market is located at 1145 Fulton St. SE.

The land that the market sits on is a Grand Rapids city park.  The City of Grand Rapids says,

Through partnership with the City, including the Parks and Recreation Department, the market has remained a community staple.

 

What Do They Sell at the Fulton Street Farmers Market?

The Fulton Street Farmers Market has 118 outdoor booths and additional space for indoor booths.

Vendors sell a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, meats, dairy, hand-crafted food items, and unique artisan products.

Special Events at the Fulton Street Farmers Market

The Fulton Street Farmers Market hosts special events throughout the year.

Previous year's evens have included:

• Boutique Markets - The Fulton Street Farmers Markets hosts vendors selling clothing, skin care artisans, accessories, jewelry, home décor, and more.

• Artisan Markets - Vendors sell handmade art pieces.
• Vintage Markets - In addition to their regular artisans, they host vintage vendors featuring items that are or appear 20 years old or more.

• Halloween Event -  with performances, tarot card reading, trick-or-treating, and more.
• Yoga at Fulton Street Farmers Market -  Donation-based yoga classes on the Fulton Street Farmers Market plaza.
• Kids Craft Day - Free crafts and  activities for the kids.
