Grand Rapids Is One Of The Most Bed Bug Infested Cities In America
Every year, Orkin releases their "Bed Bugs Cities List", where they rank the most bed bug infested cities in America and this year 4 Michigan cities made the list.
- Detroit ranks 7th in the country, up from 8th last year
- Grand Rapids ranks 18th, up from 20th in 2019
- Lansing is 30th on the list, rising on the list from 32nd last year
- And Flint is 31st, jumping up from 47th in 2019
Now, you can look at this as disgusting and be disappointed that Grand Rapids is the 18th most infested city in the country. Or, you can look at the other cities on the list and say "hey, look at all those big cities, GR must have finally made it to the big time!"
OK, maybe there really isn't a positive swing to this unless you own an extermination business.
According to Orkin, "the list is based on treatment data from the metro areas where Orkin performed the most bed bug treatments from December 1, 2018 – November 30, 2019. The ranking includes both residential and commercial treatments."
The top 5 most infested cities are: Baltimore, MD (#1), Washington D.C. (#2), Chicago, IL (#3), Los Angeles, CA (#4), and Columbus, OH (#5).
