Grand Rapids is looking for your input on the city's parks. With the help of a social media challenge, the city wants you to help shape its future.

The PhotoVision challenge is directed at capturing stories and experiences in the Grand Rapids parks. David Marquardt, the city’s parks and recreation director told Fox 17,

"Our city parks have been vitally important places of safe recreation and nature exploration over the last year. The PhotoVision challenge allows our residents to continue shaping the parks system in a way that fits their community’s needs.”

To participate in the PhotoVision challenge, you can post a photo of a neighborhood park with a description of what you enjoy about it. You should include what needs to be improved about the park and also, what activity you'd like offered there.

Participants will need to tag @grparksandrec and use the hashtag #YourCityYourParks to submit the photo. These photos will be reposted on the parks and recreation department’s Instagram account. The PhotoVision challenge is one of many planned public input opportunities for residents as the city’s Parks and Recreation department prepares to update its 5-year master plan.
