UPDATE: Fox 17 reports that a suspect has been arrested. According to police, Rafael Torres-Mondoza says he has bad memories from when he lived at the home and doesn’t have any affiliation with the current residents.

Grand Rapids Police are asking for help identifying a suspect involved in two arson incidents on the City’s Northeast side.

A home in the 2000 block of Swensberg Avenue NE has experienced two arson attempts since the beginning of September.

Security cameras caught a white male attempting to set fire to the home. He appears to wearing a black, hooded, Northface jacket, black pants, and black boots. 

"These acts of violence are not tolerated in our community. We appreciate any information the public can provide about these crimes, so that we may ensure a safe community for everyone."

A video of the second incident, which GRPD shared in the comments of the first, shows the suspect at what appears to be the back of the house, igniting a flame and running away.
