If you were planning on spending some of your new-found downtime as Gun Lake Casino, you'll have to scratch those plans as the Gun Lake Tribal Council has decided to close the casino until the end of the month.

An official announcement was posted on Gun Lake Casino's website saying the casino would voluntarily close starting 3 am  Monday, March 16th and lasting at least until March 30th.

Gun lake casino President and COO Sal Semola told Fox 17 they need to do what they can to help protect their guests and team members health,

“Protecting the health and safety of our guests and team members is of utmost importance and our main priority. While there is no requirement to close, we believe in doing our part to prevent of the spread of the Coronavirus.”

The announcement on gunlakecasino.com also said they'd take the time they're closed to do "an extensive and rigorous deep clean of the entire facility. All public and administrative areas will be thoroughly cleansed and disinfected using advanced hospital grade procedures and solutions."

Fox 17 reports that employees will continue to be paid during the voluntary closure, just as if they had taken paid leave.
