The cross state Catholic showdown between Grand Rapids Catholic Central and Detroit Loyola will still be played tonight at 7:00pm, but it's moving north.

Power Outages Have Plagued The Detroit Area

A series of storms Sunday night into Monday knocked out power to a large swath of southeastern Michigan, and they haven't quite been able to get on top of it, so that means tonight's cross-state high school football showdown between Catholic Central and Loyola has been moved.

The game will still be played Friday night, September 2 at 7:00pm, but it will take place at Royal Oak Shrine High School instead of the University of Detroit Mercy's Titan Field, which is where Loyola plays their home games.

Shrine High School is located at 3500 W. 13 Mile Road in Royal Oak, just west of Woodward.

Catholic Central won their opener last week at the Big House, University of Michigan Stadium, shutting out Port Huron, 54-0. The Cougars have won three consecutive state titles in Divisions 4 and 5.

Loyola opened up at home, dropping a 29-14 decision to perennial Detroit area power Country Day. It was their first game at their new home field at UDM, following years of leasing out home fields at Bishop Foley High in Madison Heights and Hazel Park High, both miles from their north Detroit campus.
