One of my favorite brew pubs in Grand Rapids, HopCat, has been named one of the top five beer bars in America by the Brewers Association's CraftBeer.com!

This year CraftBeer.com surveyed over 19,000 beer enthusiasts across the country for their annual "Great American Beer Bars" competition.

Once nominations were collected, the competition was then narrowed to the 10 most-nominated bars in each of the five regions of the country. The top five craft beer establishments from each region, as well as the overall winners from each, have been recognized.

Grand Rapids' HopCat took first place in the North Central division.

Also included in the top five beer bars of the North Central division were Ashley's in Ann Arbor (the only other Michigan bar to make the cut); Lizardville Beer Store & Whiskey Bar in Bedford Heights, Ohio; The Bavarian Lodge in Lisle, Ill.; and The Cellar Peanut Pub in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Beer City USA houses the original HopCat location which opened in 2008. Other HopCat locations include East Lansing and the newly opened Broad Ripple location in Indianapolis, with locations in Ann Arbor and Detroit coming soon.

Rounding out the Top 5 beer bars in America are: Beer Stein Bottle Shop & Pub in Eugene, OR, Cloverleaf Tavern in Caldwell, NJ, Mekong Restaurant in Richmond, VA and the Falling Rock Tap House in Denver, CO- which I recently had the pleasure of visiting on my recent trip to Colorado per Founders' Head Brewer Jeremy Kosmicki's advice!

You better hurry though! Go enjoy a few brews and some famous crack fries at one of the "best beer bars in America" before the ArtPrize rush gets here!
