According to a new study, West Michigan's Ottawa County tied Clinton County for second place out of the top counties for child well being.

WOOD TV reported that Ottawa County was in the top five for counties with the lowest percentage of children living in poverty as well as victims of abuse or neglect. Ottawa also placed in a top position of eighth graders proficient in math and studies for college.

The areas the report covered were community and education, health and safety and economic security.

In West Michigan, Ottawa County was the only county to crack the top 10. Ranking among the worst counties for overall child well being was Muskegon that came in at 80 on the list.
