Many long time Detroit Lions fans are saying enough and finding new teams to follow in the NFL.

Ever since I was a little kid, I either watched the Lions on TV or listened to them on the radio. There were glimmers of hope throughout my lifetime. That being said, there have been more disappointments that good times, but I keep hoping for it to change but it seems to only get worse.

Over the years I've seen a lot of my friends wearing jersey's from other NFL teams across the country. I've said plenty of times, "what's up with the jersey?" Only to be told I'm not watching the Detroit Li-downs its too depressing, I want to spend my Sunday's supporting a team that might have a chance at a Super Bowl.

I have a co-worker who a few years ago said that's it and now follows the Tennessee Titans.

I was recently in the Upper Peninsula's west side, which is close to Wisconsin, and I saw this huge display of Green Bay Packers stuff and just a little tiny rack of Detroit Lions swag. I asked the person who worked at the store, how the Packers display is so much bigger than the Lions? He said, "because the Packers win games."

For the past two weeks I have driven all over the state and saw plenty of homes with University of Michigan flags or signs out. The same for Michigan State.  I saw many homes flags or signs with NFL teams that were all not the Detroit Lions on display. I only saw one house that had Lions memorabilia hanging up and they happen to live down the road from me.

I'm trying to remain a fan, but that loss to the Minnesota Vikings really got to me because I had thought they had won the game. I was listening to it on the radio and when they went for the two point conversion I actually yelled with excitement when they had taken the lead. I pulled over to let my dog out for a moment, got back in the truck and they managed to lose with only 35 seconds left in the game.

The embarrassing loss Sunday to the Cincinnati Bengal may have been the nail in the coffin for me.

I have to admit, ever since former Lions quarterback Mathew Stafford left the team and went to the L.A. Rams, I have been following the team because I always liked Stafford. I saw that Lions are playing the Rams next week and thought, I'm actually gonna wind up rooting for the Rams to win.

Maybe the Ford family who owns the Detroit Lions should just sell the team and give someone else a chance to own and run the organization and the Ford's stick to making vehicles.
