If you've been meaning to try Osteria Rossa at 16 Monroe Center St., or you'd like to stop in for one last meal, you'll have to go by this Friday, Dec. 31.

The Italian eatery announced they'll be shutting down after New Year's Eve, citing these "unforseen times" as the reason:

It is with heavy hearts we are announcing the last day of Osteria Rossa on New Years Eve. Due to these unforeseen times we have had to make the decision to close our doors. We appreciate your continued love and support and hope to see you all at future endeavors. Please follow @chefperkey for any additional news.
Thank you Grand Rapids.

Serving wood-fired pizzas, pastas, and small plates with "the warmth of the Mitten, the soul of the Boot", the restaurant from Chef Chris Perkey opened in 2013 and has raked in numerous awards over the years. In 2018 and 2019, Osteria Rossa was named the Best Italian Restaurant by Grand Rapids Magazine and in 2019 was included in Elite Magazine's  Top 10 Michigan restaurants.

Chef Perkey has worked in numerous restaurants in West Michigan, as the head chef at Bistro Bella Vita and later opening Firehouse Grill in East Grand Rapids. Most recently, he opened Saugatuck Fish camp this past summer and Taverna Rossa in Saugatuck in spring of 2021.

The news of Osteria Rossa's shutting down follows the permanent closure of all the bars and restaurants inside The B.O.B., due to the building being sold.
