It's official!  Lansing and Flint are the fashion capitols of the Midwest!  At least that is what a couple of New York investors are saying.  Jon Lewis and John Elmuccio are investing in fashion start ups in Lansing and Flint through a program they are calling 'Project I'.

The Lansing State Journal is reporting that Project I has set up a $5 million fund that will be used to invest in companies across Michigan in exchange for an equity stake in the business.

Project I is set up in an already established "fashion incubator" in Lansing known as The Runway.  The Runway has been helping groom new fashionistas since it was established in 2014.

It seems that the fashion industry is turning to Michigan to look for the next class of hip apparel designers.  In the article by The Lansing State Journal, the Project I CEOs talked about fashion hubs in Lansing, Flint, and even Detroit, but no mention of Grand Rapids.
