Ball's Softee Cream, served up ice cream cones, malts, shakes, sundaes, flurries, their famous chili dogs and more for decades on E. Main St. in Lowell.

In November 2023, Fritz Ball shared that his family had mad the decision to close Ball's Softee Cream,

The Ball family would like to thank everyone who has supported “Balls” throughout the years. We are very grateful for every last one of you! Balls Softee Creme is officially closing its doors. We know many of you will be sad. My family is very proud to have poured their blood, sweat, and tears into this place and served the Lowell community for 52 years! This was not an easy decision for the Ball Family to make.

The good news is that you'll still be able to get ice cream at that location!

The owners of Frosty Boy of Cascade have purchased Ball's Softee Cream.

Kristen and Chad Kremer announced the news last month, saying,

We have owned and operated Frosty Boy of Cascade for 8 years and are thrilled to now be joining the Lowell community for our 2nd location!

We have some big shoes to fill as we know that Balls Softee Cream was ran by an amazing family and was beloved by the community. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Balls family for entrusting us with the opportunity to operate in the same location they established over 50 years ago. We know Balls Softee Creme will be missed and we plan on keeping some menu favorites. We also are excited to bring to Lowell everything we know our customers at Frosty Boy of Cascade have come to love - including the additions of Hudsonville Ice Cream and Broaster Chicken!

Curious about Broaster Chicken? It's fresh chicken that is marinated and coated in-house then pressure fried.

In addition to Broaster Chicken and Hudsonville Ice Cream, you'll also find cookie sundaes and Koegel hot dogs.

The owners say the menu for Frosty Boy of Lowell will be finalized in late February.
