The 12,000-seat amphitheater that will be built in the next couple of years in Grand Rapids has its ducks in a row and things appear to be moving swimmingly.

Grand Rapids is a Great City for Concerts

I have been lucky enough to see concerts in all the major cities in the state of Michigan, and I remember driving to Grand Rapids often for shows way before I ever lived here.

I remember driving over from the east side of Michigan to see shows at Club Eastbrook before it became the Orbit Room and has since closed. I drove up from Indiana when I lived there to see shows at Van Andel Arena, the Intersection, and the DeVos. I can personally attest that great shows and great venues are located here in Grand Rapids.

Grand Rapids Amphitheater From 2007 to Now

What started off as an idea in 2007 has finally moved to a reality in 2022. The property on Market Street in Grand Rapids that the city is selling to build the amphitheater will finalize soon. Already the movement of the sewer line that runs through the property where the amphitheater will be built is almost complete.

The area of 201 Market Street where the salt and salt trucks are stored for the roads in Grand Rapids is where the venue will be built. The salt and the trucks involved will be moving to another location in the city on Scribner Avenue.

According to WOOD, Grand Rapids mayor Rosalyn Bliss said, "We'll actually be working with partners to get mixed-use, housing development on that site." Bliss is referring to the 7 acres of the property that will be left after the venue takes up the other 11 acres.

So it looks like the ducks are in a row for the Grand Rapids Amphitheater to be completed but we are still a few years away from seeing that first show.
