Own a Piece of Michigan History – Vintage Parts of Mackinac Bridge Up for Auction

Stretching from Michigan's Lower Peninsula to the Upper Peninsula, the Mackinac Bridge is the longest suspension bridge in the Western Hemisphere. And you could own a piece of it!

The Michigan Department of Transportation suggests the vintage steel grating that's hitting the auction block would make a great gift for mom this Mother's Day.

Now, what mom would do with the two ton sections... well, that's up to her.

The pieces are about 5 and a half feet by 38 feet and 5 inches deep. Five of them are up for grabs.

Bidding on the steel parts is open now here through March 17, 2024. Bids for some pieces are already  over $600.

Some things to know: You're gonna need some way to haul your vintage piece of the bridge and probably some help!

Also keep in mind that buyers do have to sign a "Hold Harmless agreement" because of lead paint and the structural condition of the grating:

Now if you'd like to own a piece of the bridge, but maybe not so huge, a few years back  The Mackinac Bridge Authority shared there were some smaller pieces of grate for sale at the administration office.
