James Beard Award-Winning Chef Opening New Pizza Restaurant in Grand Rapids Area
A chef who won the "Best in the Midwest" James Beard Award is plotting a new wood-fired pizza and fresh pasta restaurant in the Grand Rapids area.
New Pizza, Pasta Restaurant, Myrth to Open in Ada
Chef Paul Berglund, a University of Michigan grad and a Navy veteran, is set to open a new restaurant in West Michigan.
Berglund has been cooking for the past two decades, most notably as the executive chef of The Bachelor Farmer in Minneapolis, where he was awarded the 2016 James Beard Award for Best Chef in the Midwest.
The new restaurant is called Myrth and is located at 7423 River St. SE in Ada.
Berglund lives in Ada with his wife, son, and dog.
A post to Facebook shares,
Though his career path has taken him away from pizza and pasta in recent years, they are the first foods he mastered as a young chef and the ones he has been dreaming about ever since. He can't wait to fire up the wood oven and get back to the foods he loves most!
Owners say Myrth will "showcase the best that West Michigan seasons have to offer, through the lens of wood-fired pizzas and freshly-made pastas."
When Will Myrth Open in Ada?
Construction is currently underway on Myrth downtown Ada. The owners shared a sneak peak at the new restaurant last week:
According to Wood TV 8, the plan is to open Myrth in early June 2023. They'll be looking to hire around 40 people starting in April.
