Massive Michigan Recall: Get Rid of Potentially Toxic Medicine Now
Check your medicine cabinet! There is a massive recall on a popular medicine that has been tainted with microbial contamination.
Microbial contamination can lead to fungemia or disseminated fungal infection, which can be fatal.
Robitussin Recall Due to Microbial Contamination
Haleon is voluntarily recalling eight lots of Robitussin Honey CF Max Day Adult and Robitussin Honey CF Max Nighttime Adult, which were sold in Michigan and nationwide.
According to the FDA,
In immunocompromised individuals, the use of the affected product could potentially result in severe or life-threatening adverse events such as fungemia or disseminated fungal infection. In non-immunocompromised consumers, the population most likely to use the product, life-threatening infections are not likely to occur. However, the occurrence of an infection that may necessitate medical intervention cannot be completely ruled out.
So far, the company says it has not received any reports of "adverse events" related to the recall.
What Robitussin Cough Syrups are Being Recalled?
Robitussin Honey CF Max Day and Nighttime are cough syrups for the temporary relief of symptoms occurring with cold or flu, hay fever, or other respiratory allergies.
The recalled Robitussin CF Max Day was sold in 4 oz. and 8 oz. bottles; the Robitussin Nighttime was sold in 8 oz. bottles.

What Should You Do if You Have Recalled Robitussin in Your Home?
Haleon says that anyone who has purchased the recalled product should stop consumption immediately.
Safely dispose of the product or return it to where it was purchased for a refund.
