A Severe Auto Accident Leads to More Hardship

A man who lives in Fountain, Michigan, by the name of Joseph Riker. 8 years ago Riker was in a terrible automobile accident when he was hit from behind by another vehicle when he was heading home from work.

Riker, who at the time owned a large home on 40 acres of land, suffered a traumatic brain injury. The injury was so bad Riker was unable to return to work. Naturally, if you cannot work, you cannot pay your bills.

During this time Rker wound up losing his home and his land and was forced to live in a run-down trailer on another piece of land.

West Michigan Community Steps Up and Builds a Man a Log Cabin

It is just an incredible story of how Riker's friends and other members of the community including the Amish, all came together to build him a log cabin so he would have a better place to live.

It took approximately 2 months to build the cabin. The most amazing part of this story is that Riker's friends and members of the community spent their own money on supplies and donated their time and labor to build this home and many of these people were strangers.

Riker's spent the winter in the newly built log cabin. WZZM reported that Riker said, "I'm a loss for words because I've never heard of anybody doing what they did true for me like Daniel Ray did. I know I don't ask for a lot of help from anybody."
