Miss This Grand Rapids Poke Resturant? It’s Returning with Pop-Up Events

Two years after closing, a Grand Rapids poke shop is making a comeback with a "restaurant tour".

First opening on Wealthy St. in southeast Grand Rapids in 2017, Wikiwiki Poke Shop served up creative poke bowls, a dish made with raw fish and a variety of veggies.

You could also find seaweed salad, daily specials like ramen, ceviche, and other seafood items.

Owner Keith Allard announced the restaurants' closure in 2022 after facing pandemic-related hardships, staffing challenges, and price increases.

Well, if you've missed Wikiwiki, you'll have a chance to experience it again!

Crain's Grand Rapids reports that the restaurant is set to make its return will a series of pop-up events at area restaurants Allard is calling "Wikiwiki Poke: The Next Episode Tour".

In February, Allard wrote on Facebook,

Maybe time heals, maybe there's a season for everything, maybe i'm just an old dog trying to learn new tricks... Regardless, I've spent the past 18 months working all of my issues into an album of new dishes, and I'm bringing them to all of you next month. ⁣

Allard will be debuting new, creative dishes with some of his favorite chefs at restaurants around Grand Rapids.

The first event is March 18 with a dinner at farm-to-table eatery Terra GR. Check out a draft of the menu here. According to Allard, it sold out within three hours!

The next pop-up is at Tex-Mex brunch restaurant Basalt March 21 - tickets are available via a link in the bio of Wikiwiki's Instagram page. Pizzeria Quarantino's will host the next event March 26.

After that, the tour heads to shared kitchen and event space Chef Shack. A series of dinner events is planned for late March and early April.
