According to Healthline,

"Without enoughsun exposure, your serotonin levels can dip. Low levels of serotonin are associated with a higher risk of major depression with seasonal pattern (formerly known as seasonal affective disorder or SAD). This is a form of depression triggered by the changing seasons.

If you are going through it this winter just like me, there may be a solution thanks to this West Michigan library.

Herrick District Library in Holland has set up a way to get a little sunlight indoors.

With their new and cozy Sunshine Station, you can get a little vitamin D in your system with their light therapy lamps.

The adult services librarian, Lindsay Zrull, told MLive that she had the idea for the light therapy stations since she just moved back to West Michigan from Boston.

She was ultimately warned that Holland is extremely cloudy throughout the winter season.

I thought it would be a great idea to use our library resources to give people a little dose of sunshine whenever they need it.

According to Zrull, roughly 80 people have already taken advantage of this service.

How does a light therapy lamp help with the lack of sunlight?

Mayo Clinic can explain it a lot better than I can.

A light therapy box mimics outdoor light. It's thought that this type of light may cause a chemical change in the brain that lifts your mood and eases other symptoms of SAD such as being tired most of the time and sleeping too much.

Cleveland Clinic recommends using light therapy in the morning since it can cause insomnia if you use it later in the day. Anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes every day can help in a major way.
