According to NBC News, the organization

"ordered all domestic departures to be delayed until 9:00 AM ET to allow the agency to check safety information."

After grounding flights, the FAA said that they had experienced a computer outage that they are in the process of fixing.

In a statement, the FAA said,

"We are performing final validation checks and repopulating the system now. Operations across the National Airspace System are affected. We will provide frequent updates as we make progress."

The White House sent out a communication saying there is no evidence that this outage was because of a cyberattack but there will be a "full investigation" to look into what caused it.

As of now, roughly 3,578 flights in and out of the states were delayed and 397 have been canceled altogether.
