Grand Rapids Business “Bullys” Owners By Banning This Dog Breed
No one likes a bully...
Unless you're talking about "bully breeds" of dogs.
My dog Tulip is a bully breed, and based on some of the uneducated nonsense I've read on the internet, you'd think that she is looking to eat me for breakfast every day.
It turns out, she's a cuddle machine whose best friend is a tiny black kitten. So, I don't really see the outrage and fear people have about my dog.
And most people that own these dogs will agree with me, my dog would rather snuggle you to death than to eat you. She also has never bit anyone, and rarely meets a stranger that isn't her friend despite the fact that she was dumped in the streets by breeders.
But unfortunately due to an unfair stereotype that this dog breed faces thanks to a rare few people who have trained them to act out, a lot of people like to discriminate against them without asking questions.
And one Grand Rapids business is under fire this week after their controversial new policy that bans all "bully breeds" from using their services going forward, even though their website says they welcome "all breeds and dogs".
According to a social media post from animal rescue Michele's Rescue, Good Dog GR has decided that not all dogs are good boys and girls, and they're now only allowing certain dog breeds to come play and enjoy their doggie daycare and grooming services.
The information was also confirmed by reviews left on the business's facebook page where people shared the email sent out to current customers privately.
While, I understand that all dogs should be checked for their temperament before being allowed to play with other dogs for everyone's safety, this should go for EVERY type of breed, not just bullys and bully mixes.
Especially because the most aggressive breed according to experts isn't what you'd think it is... It turns out this Chihuahua is more likely to attack you than a Pitbull or a bully breed. But, because they're so small, they don't get treated the same as bigger breeds.
So, shame on Good Dog GR, because it's not very good of them to discriminate against dogs blindly instead of taking it case by case like you should with every dog that comes to spend time with them during the day.
