Pageants are an incredible way for people to boost their self esteem and grow their confidence. While from the outside it may look like vanity and beauty deep, these competitions build lifetime relationships and show girls that they can show the world what makes them special and beautiful, inside and out.

And that's why Mary Free Bed is proud to partner with and host the 2022 Ms. Wheelchair Michigan competition. Organizers are currently still accepting applications for this statewide competition.

And according to the folks at Mary Free Bed, this event is anything but a “beauty” pageant. The Ms. Wheelchair Michigan is an advocacy-based competition that provides a platform for women to grow in leadership, advocacy and education. These opportunities can be so empowering for the woman who participate.

The winner of Ms. Wheelchair Michigan will then go on to compete on the national stage at Ms. Wheelchair America, coming in August of 2023, representing Michigan on the national stage.

Who is eligible?

Organizers say they're looking for Women who use a wheelchair or scooter for community mobility due to a disability.

Marital status does not matter. You must be 21 years old, a US citizen and a resident of Michigan. If you’ve participated before and didn’t win, you are able to enter and compete again.

How can I participate?

It's simple, all you have to do to compete is to fill out this application online. The competition itself will be held Sunday, November 20, from 1- 5 p.m at Mary Free Bed.

But, you don't have to be on stage or compete to participate. These wonderful women deserve a court! You can attend the Crowning Gala at 4pm, which is open to the public
