2 Michigan Families Found Box Cutters Instead of Toys in Their Happy Meals
For the last 44 years, kids who are taken through the drive thru at McDonald's locations across the country, could always count on the joy brought to them by the iconic Happy Meal.
I am a 90's kid, and I'll never forget the patience my Dad showed when I begged him to take me weekly to wait in the insane line just to make sure I could get all of the mini beanie babies.
And while, I'd argue kids today are getting a little short changed when it comes to the toys they get: This isn't the upgrade they were looking for... 2 families in Detroit recently opened their Happy Meal boxes to find box cutters with their meals.
According to WXYZ, Dawn Paret is a mom who said her 7-year-old daughter found a bright yellow box cutter in her Happy Meal. Dawn also found it along with a pen inside a Happy Meal box that her family picked up Sunday afternoon at a McDonald's along 13 Mile road in Warren.
And while we all make mistakes and can understand how this innocent mistake could happen once, this is a little harder to believe... it happened again at a different McDonald's.
Just three weeks ago, Kayla Almashy says she was in the drive-thru at a McDonald's on West Grand River in Brighton when her daughter found a similar box cutter in her Happy Meal.
Kayla did say when she asked for an explanation, all they did was offer her a cookie or apple pie as a sorry, which wasn't what she was looking for.
Both moms said they reported it to management when they found them, but it appears both locations used a Happy Meal box as a "catch-all" box, and it was an innocent mistake.
But, parents you may want to pay close attention to your Happy Meals just in case, because we'd hate for one of these stories to end up with an unhappy ending.
