Delivery drivers dropping things off at our house is such a common occurrence that we don't even think twice about it. We have packages dropped off from Fed Ex, UPS, and all the Amazon boxes that show up at my front door thanks to my wife Lindsey.

Heck, even my father-in-law Ken orders his groceries from the Meijer in Hudsonville now and has them dropped off at his house.

Fruitport Family Thinks Amazon Driver Took Their Cat

One thing that unfortunately happens with all these packages being dropped off is that porch pirates will steal them if given the opportunity.

A Fruitport family has a video that they believe shows an Amazon driver dropping off a package and then becoming a pet pirate when the cat hopped into the passenger side door.

Gabrielle Miller says that when she got home on Monday night something was wrong.  Her children told her that they couldn't find their pet cat named Shadow.

She told WZZM

"They got their coats on, took flashlights, and looked all over," And even when they called for her, there was no kitten to be found."

Gabrielle was hoping since it was a barn cat that it wasn't attacked or killed by an outside predator.  After searching for Shadow for several hours Gabrielle's husband told her.

"you're not going to believe this, sometime that afternoon, an Amazon driver came and delivered a package, picked up the cat, carried it around and when she left, there was no cat to be found."

She then sits Shadow down and proceeds back to the delivery van.

Amazon Was No Help

Gabrielle reached out to Amazon Monday night and they responded by saying sorry about your package. She once again explained that the package was fine but their cat was missing and they think the delivery driver did it.

Call The Police

An Amazon representative told the family they needed to call the local police to file a report so that's what they did. After several days of no luck, Gabrielle reached out to WZZM 13 for help. They asked Amazon for a comment and that's when they started to look more into the incident.

Shadow Comes Home

On Saturday morning police showed up at the family's house with Shadow the barn cat. The family was relieved but says Amazon took way too long to try and resolve the situation.

Will The Driver Face Charges?

The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office was able to identify the 24-year-old woman from Grand Rapids. Police believe the prosecutor will proceed with the charges, as the Amazon delivery woman still believes she was in the right and did nothing wrong. Deputies say they have turned the case over to the prosecutor to review larceny charges.
