If you've had to travel around the area at all over the last few weeks, it's likely your commute has been met with frustrating traffic, and a headache from trying to find a way around. And now, it looks like the first of one of the Summer's most frustrating projects is now going to be lasting longer than expected.

The closure on northbound US-131 at 28th Street has been extended by a week. While this won't make a huge difference on the project, it just means another week of trying to drive around it. Now, according to MDOT, the closure will last until April 27.

Here’s a quick rundown of what else is happening in the construction zone:

  1. Extended Double Lane Closure: Starting April 16, there will be a double lane closure on northbound US-131. The left two lanes will be closed, but the right lane will remain open. This closure now stretches all the way to I-196.
  2. Ramp Closures:
    • Hall Street: Ramp closures here will end on April 16.
    • Wealthy Street: Both the exit and entrance ramps will be closed from April 16 through April 27.
    • Market Avenue: The on-ramp closure here continues through April 27.
    • Pearl Street: The exit ramp closure will end at 6 a.m. on April 16, and the entrance ramp closure will run from April 16 to April 19.

As a friendly reminder, this is the map of the workaround they suggest to avoid this traffic as it now extends further into the summer:
