Spelling can be more challenging for some words than others, and for Michiganders, one word proved especially troublesome this year.
Most people have the tendency to wrestle with at least a few words from time to time. No matter how many times you try, you just can't get it right. That's when you look to Google for a little guidance. No matter how many times I type it out, I always misspell 'restaurant', 'decision', and 'conscious'. I just can't seem to get them right.
Every year Google Trends puts out a list of America's top spelling searches by state. While some states struggle with a simple four-letter word like 'gray.', others find it challenging to spell words with over 10 letters including 'miscellaneous.'

The most commonly misspelled word in Michigan this year is the word 'shenanigans.' I'm not going to lie, I had to Google how to spell it correctly. I understand how that could easily trip some people up.
I don't know why so many people need to use the word 'shenanigans' but they are. I think the only time I ever use the word 'shenanigans' is when I'm quoting Super Troopers.
What Was the Most Misspelled Word in 2022?
Last year the most misspelled word in Michigan was 'impatience.'
In 2021, the most misspelled word was 'coronavirus.'
