If you work for a company with 100 or more employees, as of January 4th you will need to be vaccinated or tested weekly for COVID-19.

The United States government is mandating that about 84 million workers at medium and large companies will need to be either vaccinated or tested weekly.

If you are unvaccinated and want to continue that path you will not only be tested weekly but also have to wear a mask at work.

The rules are a bit stronger if you happen to work in a hospital, nursing home or any facility that receives money form Medicare and Medicaid. You will have to be vaccinated because testing will not be an option.

If you have a medical issue that requires you not be vaccinated or you have religious issues with the vaccination, you will be able to request an exemption.

Companies are highly suggested to follow these guidelines because OSHA says fines could be as high as $14,000 per violation.

There were a lot of negotiations regarding these new rules from business groups, labor unions and many others to agree on the new regulations for 2022 regarding work places with 100 or more employees.

These rules are not something that is new. They actually come from the under emergency authority and that is how OSHA drafted these regulations that begin on January 4. This is all to protect workers from an imminent health hazard.

WOOD reported that an engineer who works for NASA in Mississippi, Nyla Trumbach said, "no one should be forced to take a medical treatment just to keep their job. There's years and years of experience and skill out here, and I just want anyone who's watching to see what we stand to lose here if these people don't keep their jobs."

Since these new regulations start at the United States government level, they preempt any state laws or orders that are conflicting with what OSHA is bringing forward.
