Former Detroit Tiger pitcher Justin Verlander and his Michigan wife, Kate Upton announced they are expecting over the weekend.

His former teammates responded by shelling him with four home runs.

On Saturday, Verlander, now with the Houston Astros, and his supermodel wife Upton announced their pregnancy, with Upton initially posting with the hashtag 'Pregnant In Miami', and her husband responding on his feed with “You’re going to be the most amazing Mom!! I can’t wait to start this new journey with you! You’re the most thoughtful, loving, caring, and strong woman I’ve ever met! I’m so proud that our little one is going to be raised in this world by a woman like you! I love you so much.”

His former teammates with the Tigers responded by getting him the gift of four home runs, the most given up in a game by Verlander this season, and defeating the Astros 6-3 yesterday in Houston.

Coming into the game, Verlander was leading the American League in ERA, while the Tigers were struggling with six straight losses.

“It was an interesting day,” Verlander said. “I had great stuff. It seemed anytime I made a mistake, they were on it. If I didn’t, I struck them out. Like I said, it was one of the weirdest games of my career.”

Verlander was unbowed by the beating, and posted photos of himself and his friends jetting off to the All Star Game in Washington DC.
