Not everyone likes to camp in the winter, but those who do, the last thing they expect is to get shot.

According to WOOD, a 45-year-old man from Belding decided to do some camping in Montcalm County.

The man was camping near Colby Road and M-66 in Sidney Township, near Stanton and around 7 a.m. something terrible occurred.

The man had to call the police to let the dispatcher know he had been shot in the head. He was immediately taken to the hospital and bullet fragments were found in his head. The Michigan State Police are still trying to figure out what was going on.

The victim has since been released from the hospital and fortunately does not have any life threatening injuries.

MSP are still investigating the case.
