A Milwaukee man is lucky to be alive today after his truck launched off a freeway and crashed 70 feet below.

The man, who has yet to be identified, received serious injuries, but is expected to recover. The incident occurred early Saturday morning, which meant traffic was light, further lessening the impact.

The truck appeared to launch off of snow piled alongside the freeway ramp, and then miraculously twisted, so that the truck landed upright on its wheels, rather than on its roof, which probably would have yielded a different result.

Eddie Santiago, the Milwaukee County Highway Director told WISN News that the sub zero temperatures hardens the snow along freeways, creating a ramp which could launch a vehicle of you hit it at the right angle.
