May 1 is Community Cleanup Day in Kentwood

Spring is here and so is the spring cleaning and the city of Kentwood will have their annual Community Cleanup Day this Saturday, May 1.

This is a huge opportunity if you have a lot of yard waste from this past winter that has been accumulating on your property. It is nice that the city of Kentwood is willing to except its residents yard droppings.

According to FOX 17, the city will except yard waste, trash and general debris from the disposal and electronics for recycling. You will be able to drop off your waste 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kentwood Department of Public Works located at 5068 Breton Ave. SE.

You may want to take advantage this week and getting all your spring cleaning debris and have it ready for drop off this Saturday.

The city will also be accepting your leaf and sticks to drop off at the same location all the way until May 29. So if you have a lot of trees, this should give you enough time to hall it all over.

When dropping off leaves, sticks and bigger branches and even trees from storm damage, the hours of operation are Monday through Saturday noon to 8 p.m. and on Sunday's until 6 p.m.  Just make sure all the leaves and sticks are not in bags when you drop them off.

FOX 17 reported that the Department of Public Works director John Gorney said, "our Community Cleanup Day offers residents a timely opportunity to dispose or recycle items as part of their spring-cleaning efforts. We encourage residents wanting to declutter their homes and property to take advantage of these free collection services."

Just a reminder when dropping off your debris, the pandemic is still rolling so you will need to follow all CDC guidelines including wearing your mask and social distancing while on the premises.

Most all cities and town's offer some sort of spring cleaning opportunity so check with your local leaders to find out what will take place where you live if you live outside of Kentwood.
