Metallica are continuing to help out students here in Grand Rapids!

The band is awarding Grand Rapids Community College with a $50,000 grant to further their program training students for in-demand welding jobs, WZZM-13 reports.

All Within My Hands Foundation is working with the American Association of Community Colleges on the program. The Metallica Scholars grant supports job training in community colleges and helps the band reinvest in cities where they've toured.

With the first grant, GRCC launched an intensive welding program that takes less time to complete than traditional courses. It features smaller class sizes with flexible scheduling options and career preparation assistance.

The college says they will use the additional funding to expand the program to more students.

GRCC President Bill Pink said in a release,

“With the first group of Metallica Scholars, we saw people who had their lives changed by the opportunity to rise above challenges and gain these new skills leading to rewarding careers. We are so proud of the partnership with All Within My Hands and AACC, but also the local partners who connected us with students. This is a perfect example of people working together to create opportunities. We are thrilled to continue."
