Over the past several years, Grand Rapids has been named as one of the "coolest" or "hippest" city in Michigan and even occasionally in the country, but now that title is moving to one of its neighbors.

PureWow.com has ranked "The 10 Coolest Cities with the Lowest Cost of Living in the U.S." and Kalamazoo came in at the top spot, beating out the likes of Knoxville, TN, Savannah, GA, and Green Bay, WI.

Kalamazoo had the lowest cost of living index on the top 10 list and it was up their in the "cool factor" as well.  PureWow describes Kalamazoo as "a mid-sized city that packs both a small-town and big-city punch—so you get your chili cook offs, farmers markets and your visual and performing arts too."

Kalamazoo is a great place to live if you are on a budget and it is one of the up and coming cities in Michigan.  The fact that it is home to Western Michigan University means that it will also always have things to do because where there is a large student body, there are always things to do.
